Manchester City Drop Points Despite Dominating Game vs Chelsea

After an incredible 4-4 game earlier this season, with a last minute penalty from Manchester City academy graduate, Cole Palmer to bring it back to the draw against his old club.

This game was expected to be different with Kevin De Bruyne back in the lineup and Manchester City were on a 10 win run in all competitions with the game being at the Etihad which has become a fortress.

The game was absolutely dominated by City with the stats being so one sided in all departments besides the score line being on the same level. Rodri brought Manchester City the game back on level terms despite winning the ball and controlling the play all game.

Despite Rodri scoring, their superstar goal scorer Erling Haaland, had many missed chances despite his scoring record this year. Fans online and journalists at the game were questioning Pep Guardiola about this and he responded with;

“I played for 11 years and scored 11 goals. One goal a season. I’m not a proper man to give advice to strikers. We created the chances and next time he’s going to score. I don’t blame him…” [via @spbajko on X]

Another stat that was shown after the game ended was that Manchester City put 47 crosses into the box and scored 0 headers. Erling Haaland did get up and squandered 2 golden chances from these crosses which he is sure to beat himself up about after coming away from this game with a draw despite needing a win to put them ahead in the Premier League title race.
