Manchester City Complete 3 GOAL Comeback Against RB Leipzig

Manchester City complete a comeback against RB Leipzig after going down 2-0 at half time.

Coming into this champions league tie, Manchester City only needed a tie to go through to the round of 16 knockout stages having won all of their games so far.

City lined up with a slightly weaker team than usual but still a team worthy of this champions league night.

City line up – Ortega, Walker (c), Dias, Gvardiol, Akanji, Rodri, Lewis, Silva, Foden, Grealish, Haaland.

Openda scores 2 goals in the first half against the treble winners shocking them after being so dominant in the champions league all season long. The away team end the first half in complete control of this out of character city squad trailing 2 goals to 0 for the first time since the final day of the 2022 Premier League season against Aston Villa.

As the second half commenced, City looked different instantly with some changes and the team talk from Pep, they were out gunning to win the game.

In the 54th minute, the star of the Premier League, Erling Haaland pulls one back for the champions after a low ball into the box from Phil Foden sets the Norwegian up for a record breaking goal for the Citizens.

With this goal, Haaland becomes the youngest and quickest player to score 40 goals in the champions league at 23 years old and only 35 appearances in the UCL making it easily over 1 goal a game for the record breaking star boy.

Then in the 70th minute, Phil Foden who assisted the comeback goal for Haaland, makes it 2-2 with a slotted finish from the edge of the box against Blaswich. This goal means that as long as they don’t concede again, they are through to the next round of the UCL with a draw.

However, a draw isn’t enough for Guardiola’s men as in the 87th minute of the game, the world cup winner, Julian Alvarez finds himself alone in the middle of the 18-yard box and after a 5 game goal drought, he grabs himself the winner in this game with a simple shot into the back of the net completing this miraculous comeback against RB Leipzig.

Phil Foden receives POTM for this performance against Leipzig giving 2 assists and 1 goal for the home side inspiring their comeback win.

The next Manchester City game is against Tottenham Hotspur again at the Etihad Stadium with City hoping to regain top spot in the Premier League.
