City Dismantle Spurs In 7-0 Thrashing At Joie Stadium

Bunny Shaw scores a magical hattrick in 7-0 demolition of Tottenham Hotspur Women’s team.

After coming off of a record breaking win against their rivals, Manchester United Womens, last weekend, the Citizens came into this game with hopes to win and put them one point ahead of their neighbours in the WSL.

Coming into this game Manchester City were the favourites from an out of form Spurs side with only 12 points from 7 games whereas City came into the game with spirits high after a win over United leaving them 3rd in the league with 13 points.

Bunny Shaw who is currently City’s top scorer is sitting at 6 goals which is the lead in the WSL alongside Lauren James and Martha Tomas at the top of the table of scorers.

She scored 3 goals in 15 minutes this game against Spurs. After scoring 20 goals last season and leading Jamaica in their historic run to the World Cup knock-out stages last summer she looks back to her best with a hattrick for her team.

Laura Coombs scored twice, with Lauren Hemp and Jill Roord adding to the tally second-half goals in a superb performance by the home side.

City lost their last home game against Brighton in a shock defeat where the home side were clear favourites so this win against Spurs will lift the spirits of the home side if they want any chance of challenging for the title against the mighty Sam Kerr and Chelsea at the top of the table.

Man City’s next game is against Aston Villa at home on the 9th of December. They will be hoping to lose the distance between themselves and the top spot in the WSL.
