Record Breaker Haaland Not Enough To Bring Victory To Champions

Manchester City welcomed Liverpool to the Etihad for a big game between 1st and 2nd in the Premier League which could tell the tale of how the season will end on at the end of 2023.

Manchester City came into the game with only 1 change from the predictions posted on Power Pitches yesterday, with Akanji in for Gvardiol at centre back.

Liverpool lined up with one change as Tskimikas came in for Joe Gomez to face off against Phil Foden on the right wing.

Manchester City started the game off with their usual press on the ball causing the Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson, a lot of stress under pressure despite being a world class goalkeeper all season long he seemed to crack under pressure today against the treble winning side.

This crack under pressure led to the first goal of the game for Erling Haaland after a terrible clearance from Alisson led straight into the feet of Ake where he beautifully dribbled past 3 players and thread the ball through to the record breaker, Haaland to slot it home past Alisson to make the game 1-0 into the favour of Manchester City.

Half time came with the score staying the same and City going into the half time break clearly the better team out of the two.

However, as soon as the second half kicked off, Liverpool seemed different as if Klopps team talk affected the team morale as coming out Liverpool looked like a different team.

Even though City played their usual game, Liverpool looked as if they were taking over the game slowly with glimpses of brilliance.

In the 80th minute Mo Salah makes a brilliant run down the right wing and cuts it back to Trent Alexander Arnold on the edge of the 18 yard box where he slot it into the bottom left corner of the net making the game equal with 10 minutes left to go of the 90.

The game did end 1-1 however, despite the teams receiving 8 minutes extra time with Manchester City looking desperate to score and Liverpool happy to sit back and take the draw.

Manchester City leave the game frustrated as they can possibly lose their top spot today if Arsenal do beat Brentford.
